Chapter 1: Wudhu in Public Washrooms

Because I have traveled to many different cities across Ontario with old uncles, and have been alongside many other youth making wudhu in every type of public washroom, I have came across many techniques to do wudhu in a public place. The main challenge is often washing your feet, because our non-Muslim washroom-mates tend to think that washing your feet from the same place they spit out their disgusting phlegm will cause them to spit out fungus or something! Either way… Here the story begins.. choose your own adventure.

It is a hot summer’s afternoon, and you and your family are taking a long car ride to visit your sick aunt in Saskatchewan. You knew you would have to pray soon so you tried to stay awake in the humid back seat of the car, but really, how many rows of wheat can one human being see without falling asleep! And now you are just bolted awake by your mother, as the car pulls up to a hillbilly Tim Horton’s coffee store. This is where you will be making wudhu.
